The group says the chairman of the board helped town council get out of charging taxes on a controvercial land deal. Ship's Lantern Hotel Destroyed in Morning Fire

A faulty clothes drier was being blamed as the cause of a devastating fire which completely destroyed the Ship's Lantern Restort Hotel Thursday morning just before 10 am. Five people, including the owner, were able to escape safely, but the building was a complete loss. See article and local pictures below !

Township Lawsuit Tossed Out

A judge has thrown out a unique lawsuit in which an Ontario township attempted to sue one of its citizens for defamation for complaining about the shoddy performance of the volunteer fire department. The suit was believed to be one of the first in Canada in which a government tried to sue a citizen for speaking out.
